Privacy Policy for musictomidi.com
Last updated: 25-05-2026
Welcome to MusicToMIDI. We respect your privacy and are committed to being clear about how our service works. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how audio files are processed, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.
MusicToMIDI is an AI-powered web application that converts audio files into MIDI files. The service provides two different processing modes: a free local model that runs directly in your browser, and premium server-side models that require temporary upload of your audio file for processing.
This distinction is important. Only the default free model runs fully locally in your browser. Premium models require server-side processing.

1. Who Operates MusicToMIDI
MusicToMIDI is operated by Julien Halgand, an independent developer.
Contact email: premium@musictomidi.com
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR where applicable, Julien Halgand is the data controller for personal data processed through MusicToMIDI, unless stated otherwise.
2. Summary
The default free model runs locally inside your browser. When you use this model, your audio file is not uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers for conversion.
Premium AI models require server-side processing. When you use a premium model, your audio file is temporarily uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers only so the requested conversion can be performed. The uploaded audio file is automatically deleted immediately after the conversion process is completed.
Uploaded audio files are used only to provide the requested conversion. They are not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to train AI models.
Uploaded audio files are automatically deleted after processing is completed. Generated MIDI files are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Account data may be stored when you create an account or use premium features. Payments are processed through Stripe. Authentication may be handled through Supabase and/or third-party authentication providers.
We may use analytics, technical logs, and browser storage to operate the service, improve performance, debug issues, prevent abuse, and provide core functionality.
3. Free Local Model and Premium Server-Side Models
3.1 Free Local Model
The default free model runs locally inside your browser.
When using this mode, no account is required, no login is required, and your audio file is processed directly on your own device. Your audio file is not uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers for conversion.
This means that MusicToMIDI does not receive, store, or process your selected audio file on its servers when you use the free local model.
Some normal website data may still be processed, such as technical logs, analytics events, browser information, or security-related data.
3.2 Premium Server-Side Models
Premium models require server-side processing.
When using a premium model, an account may be required, an internet connection is required, and your audio file is temporarily uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers.
The uploaded file is processed using the selected AI model, a MIDI file is generated, the uploaded audio file is automatically deleted after processing is completed, and the generated MIDI file is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Premium server-side processing is necessary because advanced AI models may require server resources that are not practical to run directly in the browser.
3.3 Clear Distinction Between Modes
Only the default free model is fully local.
Premium models are not fully local. They require temporary server-side processing.
By choosing a premium server-side model, you understand that your audio file must be temporarily uploaded so MusicToMIDI can provide the requested conversion.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Information Collected When Using the Free Local Model
When you use the free local model without an account, your audio file is not uploaded to our servers.
We may still process limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, and improve the website, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, approximate country or region, pages visited, referrer information, language preference, technical logs, error logs, performance data, and analytics events.
This information is used for website operation, analytics, debugging, performance monitoring, abuse prevention, and security.
4.2 Information Collected When You Create an Account
If you create an account, we may collect and store your email address, user ID, authentication provider ID, login and session information, account creation date, account status, credit balance, purchase history, conversion history, conversion metadata, support messages, and technical account activity.
We use this information to provide account-based features, premium services, credits, payment support, user support, abuse prevention, and service security.
4.3 Information Collected When Using Premium Server-Side Models
When you use premium server-side models, we process information necessary to provide the conversion service, including the uploaded audio file, file name, file size, file type or format, selected AI model, conversion settings, generated MIDI file, conversion status, conversion timestamps, credit usage, account ID associated with the conversion, and technical metadata required to process and deliver the result.
Uploaded audio files are used only to provide the requested conversion.
4.4 Information Collected When You Contact Us
If you contact us by email, contact form, support message, or another communication channel, we may collect your email address, your name if provided, the content of your message, files or screenshots you choose to send, information about your issue, and any other information you voluntarily provide.
We use this information to respond to you, provide support, investigate issues, and improve the service.
4.5 Information Collected for Security and Abuse Prevention
To protect MusicToMIDI, users, and infrastructure, we may process technical and security-related data such as IP addresses, request timestamps, user agent strings, login attempts, authentication events, suspicious payment signals, rate-limit information, server logs, error logs, abuse indicators, and unusual usage patterns.
This information helps us detect abuse, prevent attacks, protect accounts, enforce limits, investigate misuse, and maintain service availability.
5. Audio Files and MIDI Files
5.1 Audio Files in Free Local Mode
When you use the free local model, your audio file remains on your device, is processed locally in your browser, is not uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers for conversion, and is not stored by MusicToMIDI.
5.2 Audio Files in Premium Server-Side Mode
When you use premium server-side models, your audio file is temporarily uploaded to MusicToMIDI servers and processed only to generate the requested MIDI output.
Uploaded audio files are automatically deleted after processing is completed. They are not used for AI training, not sold, and not shared with advertisers.
5.3 Generated MIDI Files
For premium server-side conversions, generated MIDI files may be temporarily stored so you can download them. Generated MIDI files are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Generated MIDI metadata may be stored temporarily in your account history. You should download any generated MIDI file you want to keep before the deletion period expires.
5.4 No AI Training on Uploaded Files
We do not use uploaded audio files or generated MIDI files to train AI models unless you separately and explicitly agree to that use.
Normal use of MusicToMIDI does not give us permission to use your files for AI training.
6. How We Use Information
We use information to operate MusicToMIDI, process audio-to-MIDI conversions, generate MIDI files, provide downloads, manage user accounts, manage credits, show conversion history, maintain login sessions, and provide premium features.
We may also use technical and analytics data to understand how the service is used, detect bugs, debug conversion failures, monitor performance, improve reliability, improve user experience, identify browser or device compatibility issues, and prioritize product improvements.
We may use information to detect suspicious activity, prevent automated attacks, prevent fraud, enforce rate limits, protect infrastructure, investigate misuse, enforce our Terms of Use, and maintain service availability.
Support-related information is used to answer questions, investigate account issues, investigate payment issues, troubleshoot conversion problems, reproduce bugs, and improve documentation or interface clarity.
We may process or retain certain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, tax or accounting requirements, lawful requests, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or enforcement of agreements.
7. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on several legal bases for processing personal data.
We process personal data where necessary to perform a contract with you, including account creation, login and authentication, premium conversions, credit management, payment-related service delivery, generated MIDI downloads, and customer support.
We may process personal data based on legitimate interests, including securing the service, preventing abuse, debugging technical issues, improving performance, understanding service usage, protecting legal rights, and preventing fraud.

9. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe.
When you make a purchase, Stripe may process payment-related information such as payment card details, billing information, payment method, transaction status, fraud prevention signals, and tax-related information.
MusicToMIDI does not directly store your full payment card number.
We may store limited payment-related information, such as Stripe customer ID, Stripe payment ID, purchase amount, purchased credit package, payment status, invoice or receipt reference, account credit balance, and refund status if applicable.
This information is used to manage purchases, credits, support, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy policy and terms.

MusicToMIDI may use cookies, local storage, session storage, or similar browser technologies.
These technologies may be used for login sessions, authentication tokens, user preferences, selected language, interface settings, credit and account functionality, security, abuse prevention, analytics, and core website functionality.
We do not use uploaded audio files for advertising tracking.
Some browser storage may be strictly necessary for the website to function correctly. Other storage may be used for preferences, analytics, or performance depending on implementation and applicable law.
You can usually control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Disabling them may break login, premium features, or other parts of the service.
12. Optional Bug Reports
MusicToMIDI may offer an optional bug reporting feature. This feature is separate from normal use of the service.
If you choose to submit a bug report, you may voluntarily provide audio files, generated MIDI files, screenshots, browser information, error descriptions, technical logs, conversion details, and account information.
Bug reports are used only to investigate, reproduce, and fix technical issues.
You should not submit files through the bug reporting feature unless you are comfortable sharing them for troubleshooting.
Files submitted through bug reports may be retained longer than normal conversion files if necessary to investigate and fix the issue.
Bug report files are not used for AI training unless you separately and explicitly agree to that use.
